Vietnam celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification in a record-breaking way.
It was a major milestone for Vietnamese people, from marking victory in the war for independence to the rising aspiration of building a sustainable, globally integrated nation with a strong cultural identity.
Prowtech, the leading company in the field of LED screen advertising in Vietnam, had the vision to honour this significant day with what they know best – innovative use of lights.
High in the sky above Ho Chi Minh City, 10,500 drones took flight on 30 April.
The show of lights was inspired by Đông Sơn bronze drum – a timeless symbol of ancient Vietnamese civilization – and the image of the Lạc bird – a mythical emblem of aspiration and resilience.
A show that symbolized Vietnam in the new era also made a mark in history, with a Guinness World Records title – the most remote controlled multirotors/drones airborne simultaneously.
Coordinating all 10,500 drones to light up the sky is a true technical prowess. This is especially true in densely populated cities where command signals to drones could be disrupted; security measures must also be set in place to make sure spectators are safe.
Weather also plays a significant role: light rain and strong winds have an adverse effect on the outcome of the show, and the team at Prowtech monitored the forecast and had back-up plans in place.
According to a representative of Prowtech, one of the most important factors that made the event a success was the team: “Above all, this achievement was made possible by collective determination – driven by the shared will to deliver a national-scale spectacle and the disciplined execution of hundreds of behind-the-scenes professionals.”
The impactful show not only made a statement with a record-breaking feat, but it also received many positive reactions from the audience.
Ms. Trang, Chairwoman, said: “The moment the Đông Sơn drum appeared together with the message ‘VIETNAM – THE ERA OF ASCENT’ in the sky, we were all quietly overwhelmed with emotion. This was not only the collective effort of Prowtech and our partners – it was a humble tribute to our nation, right at the moment we marked 50 years of reunification.”
